rechtswetenschap (rechtsgeschiedenis) - 17de-18de eeuw: garantstelling door gemeente waar een persoon is geboren, meegegeven aan deze persoon indien die vertrekt naar een andere gemeente en onverhoopt in armoede vervalt. De gemeente van geboorte draagt dan de zorg voor onderhoud; aan de (gast)stad te overleggen bewijs van de diaconie of het gerecht van de plaats van herkomst dat deze de kosten van eventuele steunverlening voor een bepaalde periode zou betalen. In de provincie Utrecht was dit sinds 1725 bij Statenverordening voorgeschreven. (bron: Utrechts Archief); ;schadevergoedingsovereenkomst; door een gemeente of parochie verleende garantie van het schadevrij of schadeloos houden van een persoon die verhuist naar een andere gemeente of parochie.
