ondernemingsrecht (financieel recht) - in hun nominale versie bestaan effectieve wisselkoersen uit een gewogen gemiddelde van diverse bilaterale wisselkoersen. Reële effectieve wisselkoersen zijn nominale effectieve wisselkoersen, die gedefleerd zijn voor verschillen in inflatie, loonkosten, exportprijzen of andere prijsmaatstaven. Deze wisselkoersen zijn een maatstaf voor het concurrentievermogen van een land. De meest gebruikte maatstaven van effectieve wisselkoersen hanteren de gegevens voor de buitenlandse handel. Artikel 60 Wvk:

[1.] Uit de handelingen en afspraken, ter beurze gesloten, worden opgemaakt de bepaling van den wisselkoers, de prijs der koopmanschappen, der assurantien, der zeevrachten, der kosten van vervoer te water en te lande, der binnen- en buitenlandsche obligatien, fondsen en andere papieren, die voor bepaling van koers vatbaar zijn.
